Save Mississippi’s Islands And
Tourism Economy
More than $1 BILLION in tourism development is currently
underway in new Development and Growth on the Mississippi
Gulf Coast. Tourism is the engine that drives our coastal
economy and funds local and state services. We must not let
oil and gas drilling or testing to jeopardize these major
developments.
Beachfront High-Rise Condominium Growth
has Exploded
- Beau View Towers will be completed
in fall 2006 with 456 units and a construction price of $150
million.
- Legacy Towers will reach 14 stories, have 224
units, and is an $80 million project.
- Sea Breeze Condominiums' first
of two towers are already sold out and only broke ground
this past February. This is an $87 million resort
featuring 210 units, located on the beachside of Highway.

- Portofino and other major condominiums will
easily top $250 million in costs.
Hotel/Casino Construction Continues
To Expand
- Hard Rock's $235 million resort
with a 317 room hotel.
- Isle of Capri Resort currently
has a $170
million expansion with a 400-room hotel.
- Silver Slipper broke ground
in Feb. 2005 with plans for an $80 million project.
- President Resort is the highest amount ever paid
for a land sale in Mississippi.
- Bacaran Bay Casino is estimated
to be a $500
million project.
- Havana Casino plans over $250
million for
its development.
Attractions - New and Improved
- Mississippi Coast Coliseum
and Convention Center will
undergo a $68 million expansion and plans to capitalize
on the "Gulf View."
- Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport is
in the process of almost doubling the terminal size to
provide room for three new carriers at a cost of $56
million.
- Ohr -0 'Keefe Museum broke ground
with the first phase of a $29 million project.
- Tom Fazio Golf Course -Beau
Rivage's new course will cost more than $30 million.
- Gulf Islands Water Park -a $9.7
million project
is scheduled to open later this year.
- Beauvoir -plans a $35 million project
for Botanical Gardens.
